Race description
The Herfstloop Twente is one of the oldest running events in the east of the Netherlands, organised since 1976 by Atletiek Club TION in Enschede. The race takes runners through the beautiful countryside near Rutbeek and offers a suitable distance for every runner. In 2026, the 5-mile, 10-mile and half-marathon routes return to their original courses. The 2-mile race, introduced in 2024, is a popular distance for beginner runners and young people. The atmosphere is professional yet informal, with strong involvement from volunteers and sponsors.

Additional information
The start and finish are on the track at AC TION. Participation in the 2-mile race is open from age 11. The organising committee consists of 7 people, with more than 50 volunteers on the day. Participants give the Herfstloop an average score of 8. Registration is via the website. Facilities include free parking, with a medal available for €1.50. The event takes place in the natural surroundings of Enschede.
