Douwe Kleefstra

The Douwe Kleefstraloop is a recreational running race starting at Lionitas athletics track in Leeuwarden. It offers several distances: a 1 km kids’ run, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km and 16.1 km (10 English miles), with the routes measured exactly. The 10 km route passes through Goutum and Zuidlanden, while the 16 km route follows the same course with an extra loop via Bredyk, a tunnel under the railway and part of the Elfstedentocht route. After the race, all participants receive a cup of hot chocolate. The Douwe Kleefstra and Sietske Rijpstra trophies are awarded to the fastest man and woman in the 10 English miles, respectively.

Electronic chip timing using the chip in the race number. Participation is entirely at your own risk and responsibility. After the race, all participants receive a cup of hot chocolate. A discounted combined entry is available for the Douwe Kleefstraloop, Leeuwarden-Marsum-Leeuward and Rondje Goutum, including a special Gouden Leeuw race number and a prize draw. The distance selected when pre-registering for the Douwe Kleefstraloop determines the distance for the other races in the combination.
