Cascaderun

The Hoogeveense Cascaderun is an annual running race in the centre of Hoogeveen, known as the biggest and best run in Drenthe. The race offers a flat, fast course over 5 and 10 miles, ideal both for running a fast time and for a first race experience. With thousands of enthusiastic runners, plenty of spectators, live music along the route and an iconic finish on Hoofdstraat, it is an atmospheric event for all levels. There are also special events, including the DuoRun, UNICEF Children’s Run and Giga-G for athletes with a disability.

Race numbers and shirts can be collected on Saturday 10 April 2027 from 09:00 to 16:00 at Het Klooster, and on Sunday 18 April 2027 from 10:00 to 12:30 at De Tamboer. Official chip timing, refreshments along the route and after the finish, and professional finish photos are available to download free of charge. The Cascaderun awards a medal once every 5 years; the next time will be in 2028. Start areas are on Raadhuisplein and are indicated by letters on the race number. There are separate desks for the 5-mile race, 10-mile race and UNICEF Children’s Run. There are water stations along the route (5-mile race: 5 stations; 10-mile race: 7 stations) and toilets at the start and along the route. The first few kilometres can be crowded; runners are advised to keep right and pass on the left.
