Zeemijlenloop Delfzijl

The Zeemijlenloop Delfzijl is a unique running event held annually in October, and in 2026 it will celebrate its fourteenth edition. The main distance is 4 nautical miles (7.408 km), taking runners past green spaces, the sea, the harbour, the beach and historic sites in Delfzijl. The race starts at the athletics track and finishes at Molen Adam in the town centre. In addition to the individual 4 Zeemijlenloop, there is a corporate run and a kids’ run, making the event suitable for a range of participants. The race has a strong regional character but attracts participants from across the Netherlands. The course is wide, varied and distinctive because its distance is measured in nautical miles.

Race numbers can be collected on Saturday evening and Sunday morning at the AV Fivelstreek clubhouse and in central Delfzijl. Late registration is not available for the 4 Zeemijlenloop. The prize-giving takes place after the races. There is a party tent and a post-race gathering after the corporate run. The event takes place in October, with start and registration points at the athletics track and in central Delfzijl, and includes various race categories.
