Vestingloop Edam

The Vestingloop Edam is a traditional running race held along Edam’s old fortifications. Since the first edition in 1954, when the distance was 5 kilometres, the route has remained a fixed feature despite changes to the distances. The race offers several distances, including children’s races, a 3-mile fun run and a 10 km race. The finish is on Baandervesting near the chain bridge, while the longer distances start on Noordervesting. The Vestingloop is known for its changeable weather and friendly atmosphere for both recreational and competitive runners.

For the 10 km and 3-mile races, times are recorded using a chip attached to the race number. Children’s races use shoe chips. OJC participants can take part for free, but must report to registration to collect a shoe chip. Free parking is available, and showers are available in the changing rooms. Medals are awarded to the first three boys and girls in the children’s races. Cash prizes can be won in various age categories in the 10 km. Course along the old fortifications, registration via an online platform, free parking and showers available.
