IJsselloop

The IJsselloop in Deventer is the city’s largest running event and takes place annually on the second Sunday of April. With more than 9,000 participants and a unique atmosphere along the IJssel, the event offers a suitable distance for everyone, from recreational runners to competitive athletes. The course passes iconic bridges and follows the river, finishing on the beautiful Brink square. Organised with the support of many volunteers and AV Daventria 1906, the event encourages people of all ages to take part, with participation more important than winning.

Generous time limits by distance: no time limit for the 5 km and kids’ run, 1.5 hours for the 10 km, and 2 hours for the 15 km. On-the-day registration is available for the G-loop and kids’ run. The 5 km prize-giving is at 15:30 and the 10 km prize-giving is at 14:45 in the barracks garden (Boreel, Houtmarkt). Race number with timing, and refreshments along the course and at the finish. Clinics and training opportunities through AV Daventria 1906. Distances range from the kids’ run to 15 km; registration runs from 25 October 2025 to 21 March 2026, with limits for some distances. Start and finish in Deventer, with clinics available to prepare.
