Race description
The Dutch Backyard Ultra is a unique ultrarun in which participants start the same 6.706 km loop every hour. There is no set finish; anyone who completes the loop within the hour starts again exactly one hour later. The event lasts as long as the participants can keep going, with just one winner: the last runner to complete a loop, the “last man standing.” The route in Zeewolde runs through Scoutinglandgoed and mainly takes in natural surroundings with little elevation gain.
Highlights
- Each loop is exactly 6.706 km long
- Route through Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde with little elevation gain
- Natural area with quiet, unpaved paths
Additional information
Participants must complete each loop within an hour to be allowed to start the next one. No personal assistance is allowed during a loop; only shared aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids such as poles may not be used. Participants who do not finish within the hour receive a DNF. Each runner’s distance is shared. Participants and crew have access to the base camp, an open field the size of a football pitch where the loop starts and finishes. The race is held at Scoutinglandgoed Zeewolde, where campers are not allowed and tents must be 4x4 metres. Only one participant is expected to reach the finish, making the race particularly challenging.
